Free Comic Book Day, This Saturday May 3rd!

Yes, you read that right. FREE! Head down to your local participating comic book store, in our case Heroes, "The Central Valley's Favorite Comic Book Store", and pick em' up. Check out the freecomicbook.com website and get a head's up on what's going to be out there for you. You can even preview the comics at the same website. I'm definitely going for that X-Men with art by Greg Land. Nyup, that's this Saturday, May 3rd. We'll see you out there.

Officially official: Del Toro directing The Hobbit films

Yup, Del Toro will be directing both Hobbit films. Yeah, it's old news but I felt that we needed to close the chapter on this story and wait for the long silence between now and when the first info pops up on the films. Del Toro has stated that the whole process will take him around 5 years or so to do and is planning on moving to New Zealand to join Peter Jackson's team. 2011 or 2012 is the rough date they're giving for the release of the films. White Wizard extraordinaire Ian McKellan has confirmed in this interview with Empire Magazine that he will indeed be returning to the role of Gandalf in the films. Now we play the waiting game....Read the whole story over at Variety here.

New The Incredible Hulk trailer (insert adjective pun here) onto our screens

Zero Puncuation: God Of War: Chains Of Olympus Review

Movie Review: Iron Man

Iron Man - 4 Stars (out of 5)
When I was a kid, Marvel released a book called The Iron Man Manual showcasing some of the technical aspects of building a flying suit or armor (Dave, if you can find this for me...) and I remember the impact it had on me: As soon as I was done going through it, I wanted to build my own suit of armor. Much to my disappointment, I have yet to reach that goal. But my desire to see a live action Iron Man has been fulfilled by director Jon Favreau, flanked by Robert Downey Jr. There were a couple of scene's in this film where I honestly felt like I was going to shed a tear (remember, I'm an sentimental bitch) as I saw what was transpiring before my eyes. To see Stark blasting foes with his repulsor blasts, shooting missiles out of his armor, punching through walls....pure bliss. The ending battle was only okay but the rest of the film made up for it and the S.H.I.E.L.D. setup was awesome. No War Machine armor, no Sam Jackson as Nick Fury, no Incredible Hulk crossover but overall, one bad ass film that will, if your a hardcore Iron Man fan, blast you like Unibeam to the face. SUPERIOR TECH!

Bootleg Indy 4 trailer still up....for now.

Looks like this may be the final trailer but who knows for sure. But it looks pretty cool. Check it out and hurry before it's pulled!

Take a knee! Lets welcome PartyMarty

A little more Indy 4 trickles onto the web in the form of a new TV spot

Man, either the marketing machine is waiting for the GTA 4 & Iron Man hype to die down before hitting full steam ahead or they just think this film will sell itself (it will). Anyways, head on over to Aintitcoolnews.com here to download the spot in super keen Quicktime formats!

Is perfection really upon us? Grand Theft Auto 4 releases at midnight

Never in my history of being a video game nerd have I seen a game so universally praised. I mean, nearly 100% (at the time of this writing, the Metacritic score was at 99%) average score from the gaming press, which have been known to be a bunch of whiney bitches (can't wait to see what Yahtzee has to say about this title). So are you guys going to be at your local store tonight? If so, take some pics, videos whatever and send them this way! We'll be out at our Gamestop so maybe we'll see you out there (listen to the podcast for more info on how to score a FREE hug!) and is you need to read the review before you buy, try IGN.com here for the lowdown. Too lazy to run over there? Watch the Gametrailers review right here:

New Dark Knight photos emerge

We mentioned that a new The Dark Knight trailer should be popping up pretty soon, so keep an eye out here for that. But for now, these images have popped up over at Yahoo! and seem to be lobby cards. We finally see Harvey Dent in them, too! Check 'em out here. Also, a new international one-sheet has also popped up over at IGN.com. See it down there? Bat-tastic!

Venture Bros. returns in June; Brock encourages you to watch the teaser

If streaming isn't your thing, head on over to Quickstop Entertainment here and download it in beautiful Quicktime!

Boll against Bay.

So Roque is like "hey Robert, check out this Uwe Boll thing about him and Michael Bay" So I went. It's golden. From the second line I'm just dying. "You see my outfit, so...you know what's coming up now basically. Tscheyah." Oh man. I can't even do it justice, just watch. Uwe explains it all way better than I could ever do.

Intarwebs Music, and (&#!# that one band.

So NIN keeps on trucking. They've released another gratis track for us to chew upon, digest and release in (if you're Roque or myself), a spectacular fashion. The track itself, entitled Discipline, downloadable freely here, turns around from the atmospheric instrumentals and goes back to the vocally accompanied industrial-ish NIN sound you may be more familiar with.

But this isn't a music review. A few days after this release, guess who is jumping onto the bandwagon? Our good friends Lars and company over at Metallica (a.k.a. ruiners of the greatest music service around) have hinted they want to follow in the footsteps of artists like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails. Since their contract is expiring (and if I was Warner Records, I wouldn't re-sign them either) they feel they're ready to look "forward to everything in terms of possibilities with the Internet."

You mean the Internet you shat on when you thought overpriced CD's were going to stick around forever? The Internet that you fought against tooth and nail, siding with the same corporate interests that have already made you millions upon millions of dollars, in the hopes of making millions more, all the while suing the shit out of college students and single mothers? The Internet that you proved to everyone within which that the cash is more important than the art? That Internet? Good luck with that. NIN is doing it first and better, but even back at the Napster days, some artists (Alanis Morrisette comes to mind) were ready to embrace file-sharing. You don't deserve us Metallica. Sorry. Full story on Metallica here, thanks to ZeroPaid.com.

Dem Trailers + News

Yeah, I bit your headline Roq. Continuity for the win. Anyways, news first, trailers second, contrary to said chewed-upon headline. AICN reports that the next Superman movie may have an "angry god" vibe, according to Thomas Tull of Legendary pictures. There isn't much else about that flick, but a bit of speculation, and sourceage here.

Prince Caspian
Well they amped up the fighting in this trailer, didn't they? Looks like a bunch of very angry PG-ish action. Somehow the fact that Disney is making this film makes me feel like it's all going to be a bunch of G.I. Joe cartoon battles, where everyone is shooting but nobody gets hurt. This disappoints me, and taints my perception of some cool effects and such, but there you has it.

Wall-E
Since SOME people around this blog don't entirely share my epic vision of Wall-E as being the greatest film that will play in 2008 (although these folks are on the Wall-train) this little TV spot is being put up to change some minds. The first couple trailers were sparse, and showed Wall-E alone and interacting with his daily life, but this one takes him out of the element we've seen, and only adds to the excitement about this movie's approach. I love it so hard. So hard.

Miller shows his Spirit (and Sins!)

E-Dub got some information out of the man himself about The Spirit and Sin City 2. Interesting tidbits are that he's writing Sin City 2 with his eye on completing a trilogy. Rumors of Johnny Depp's involvement have been officially quashed, while Angelina Jolie remains an open door as someone Miller would "love to work with."

As far as The Spirit goes, Miller says it'll be a clash of old and new, with 50's Caddys and cellys. There is also a little nugget about his next comic, something already 122 pages deep and a "love letter to New York." Check out the full interview here!

Hancock shows up looking better

This film has received some REAL bad reviews from early test screenings but this trailer doesn't look half bad. Check it out and let us know what you think!

New Indy 4 photos show up on Yahoo!

I hadn't seen some of these yet but check out the entire slide show. Click here to check 'em out! Is that Eagle Field in the background of photo #15? The lighting doesn't seem to match, either..... I smell green screen!

Remember Street Fighter 2's bonus stage?

Then you'll get this video. If for some reason you watch the vid and still not get the reference....well, check this vid to help refresh your memory. And you call yourself hardcore.....for shame. The vid is from Mega 64.com. Check 'em out for a bunch of other video game related videos!

Fresh from the New York Comic Con: New one sheets for Wanted and Hellboy 2

Awesome! That Hellboy 2 poster looks like Drew Struzan's handiwork and although the Wanted poster was....kinda cool but I'm always down for some twin guns, Freddie Foxxx-style! Check out Superherohype.com for Hi-Res versions of the posters by clicking here. NYUP!

Second banned episode of The Boondocks shows up; yeah, it's kinda offensive

As we mentioned before, 2 episodes have been deemed "Too Hot For TV" and were not aired on Adult Swim. Well, the second one has appeared online (of course) and is ready for your viewing. Good stuff.....good stuff indeed. If your interested, check it out by heading over here.

Rock The Bells 2008: Lineup announced; Hip-Hop fans cry tears of joy

I knew it was going to be hard to top last year's lineup but this is pretty good. To see A Tribe Called Quest reunited in one thing; the see Tribe AND The Pharcyde?! And Nas!? And Del La!? Get The Jungle Brothers and we'll reunite Native Tongues while we're at it! I can't even type anymore. Go to the official site for dates and more info. Any readers out there interested in mobbing over to see this historic event?

So is Del Toro directing The Hobbit or not?

New York Comic Con went on this past weekend and there has been a lot of news coming out of there regarding Hollywood and it's products. One that peaked my interested was this video of Guillermo Del Toro talking about him directing The Hobbit movies. Previously, we had reported that he was indeed going to helm the next installment of the Lord Of The Rings franchise but an official word has never been given. But watching this video, it seems like he's been putting in work to arrange everything to work for him and all we're waiting for is the green light. Lets keep our fingers crossed as we wait these next couple of days, as Del Toro explains that we'll be getting some answers within that time frame. I got him to respond to one of my questions now I wonder if I can get him on one of our podcasts? Nyup!

Wanna see Gandhi get arrested for tagging? Check out The Wackness trailer

This film has got some good rumblings going through the net ever since it debuted at Sundance and the trailer has finally dropped....at least the first one that I know of on the internet. Described as a "love letter to the early 90's" by Ainitcoolnews.com, I look forward to seeing this hit the mainstream pretty soon with a better version of the trailer. I've been waiting for a film to come along and explore those hey-days of mine; the music, the clothes, the women....or lack thereof. Visit the official site here & comment away on what you thought of the trailer.

Sin City 2 The Spirit teaser screams online

Frank Miller, the guy who just 10 years ago swore off Hollywood, is making his solo directorial debut with this upcoming film. So is this Sin City, 300 style of film making going to become the next new genre? Hmm, how knows how long it'll last before it becomes the next Smell-O-Vision but it still looks cool to me. Who knows, check out the HD trailer here, streaming version below. And let us know what your think.

Dem Trailers: Film Festival Edition

The Children Of Huang Shi
In this epic film about the Japanese occupation of China in 1937, Chow Yun Fat reunites with his Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon co-star Michelle Yeoh and is joined by Radha Mitchell & Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The visuals look good and it's got some good roots embeded in the director Roger Spottiswoode (awesome last name), the director of Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot!....damn. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Check out the trailer here.

The Water Lilies
Diving into the seedy underbelly of ultra competitive synchronized swimming....actually I just made that up. I really have no clue what this film is about after watching the trailer (seeing the studio description kind of helped afterwards) but the images from this French film are pretty captivating. Check out the trailer here and see what you can gather from it.

Chaos Theory
I'm a fan of Ryan Reynolds. I guess I have to be since he's my future ex-wife's current boy toy but besides that little matter, he brings an aire of humor to his roles that transcends real nicely to the audience every time I see him on screen (plus he's playing freakin' Deadpool in the Wolverine film!). And this looks like it might be a good role for him. Check out the trailer here.

Next Mortal Kombat game revealed; nerds everywhere simultaneously exclaim "WTF?!"

Ummm....yeah. Well, I guess the whole Marvel vs. Capcom concept was weird at first, too. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has been teasing a big reveal for the latest installment of the popular video game series the last couple of weeks and this morning it was finally revealed to be this: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. So if you ever wanted to see Wonder Woman duke it out with Barraka (and who hasn't?) well, you just might get your chance later this year when the game arrives to home consoles such as the Xbox 360 & PS3. Check the official site often for the most up to date info on this abomination collaboration. Here's the trailer that was revealed earlier today.

UPDATE: Even more Joe images leaked! Yo, Joe! Scarlett creates fever with second pic from upcoming G.I Joe film

UPDATE 3: Images are back! Check 'em out over here at Nightly.net. Hurry!

UPDATE 2: Images have been pulled at request of Paramount Studios. Hope you saw them while they lasted....

UPDATE: What Would Tyler Durden Do? has posted a crapload of character images from the film including Channing Tatum as Duke, Karolina Korkova as Cover Girl, Marlon Wayans as Ripcord, Byung-hun Lee as Storm Shadow, Sienna Miller as The Baroness, Ray Park as Snake Eyes, and Dennis Quaid as Hawk. Who knows how long these images will be up so swing by here and check them out NOW!

The homies over at Joblo.com have exclusively posted the second official pic from the upcoming G.I. Joe film, due next summer...and although I'm a big fan of the previously released Snake Eye's pic, it's good to see a purrty lady every once in a while. That's Rachel Nichols as Scarlett up there, looking all nice and stuff! Yup, no more words, head on over here for a super big version of the picture for you to drool on!

You better get (get) that (that) dirt off yo shoulda.

We haven't dipped into the political madness of the elections this year, becuase there are plenty of blogs out there doing it, and frankly, probably doing it better than we could really manage it, so while this breaks the mold a bit, well...try it anyways. C'mon...seriously, how many political candidates have you seen throwing down their Jay-Z in front of any number of people? Go check out the Hova move at 2:26. Yeah, he calls out the media (ABC in particular, if you're wondering what debate he was talking about) and political infighting, but who cares? Everyone remember, this was the candidate that started the Hip-Hop trend of politics. In twelve years we'll have a candidate with gold teefs.

Tetris: The Movie trailer drops L-shaped drama blocks on the web

This parody comes from those HI-larious guys over at Black 20, responsible for some of the funniest film parodies I've seen on the net such as 300: PG Version & Spiderman 3: Product Placement. Anyways, this makes no sense, but it's just dumb enough that it works. And if your too lazy to click on those links up there (I know my audience) check out said vids at the bottom of this post. NYUP!

Local documentary Carissa to be shown at Fresno Film Festival this weekend

Lateupdate.com reported a while back on the Carissa Project, a redevelopment program for Fresno's prostitution haven known as Motel Row (you can check out the full story here) spearheaded by Carissa Phelps. Well besides getting national media attention, a documentary named simply Carissa was filmed here in town which follows the life of Phelps as she tells her story of growing up as a prostitute after her mother abandoned her all the way to what lead her to change her life around and decide to make sure that others wouldn't have to follow her path. This weekend, the film, directed by David Sauvage, will be screened at the 2008 Fresno Filmworks Fresno Film Festival on Sunday at 2pm. Although the filmmakers aren't from around here, I would count this as a local film in my book and we need to support these kind of projects. There are a million stories here and they all need people to step up and tell them. Check out the official Web Site for the film here for more information and check out the trailer embedded above to catch a glimpse of the inspirational story. Below this is a story coming from PEHub.com and gives us even more footage of the film. Definitely don't want to miss this one.

GTA 4: The OTHER product that will soon be assualting your advertising radar

April 29th brings us the release of Grand Theft Auto 4 for the Xbox 360 & Playstation 3. Which means that adverts will soon flood your web browser, television, print and every other medium that the marketing guru's can muster. Microsoft just announced that they will be putting the same amount of advertising dollars behind this game as they did with Halo 3. And we all know what happened when that game was released, right? Low box office returns. (The commercial posted up there is actually from the UK). So does Iron Man have to worry about Niko and his band of merry men jacking a portion of their cash flow? According to some analysts, Iron Man will feel the presence of the almighty GTA 4 due to the fact that they are both aimed at the same audience. I don't know if the dent will be significant (I plan on purchasing both the game & watching the movie the same week, but you know me.....I'm a nerd), but it will definitely be an interesting match to see the numbers the film puts up opening weekend. Game on, indeed!

ABC 30: Fuck the headline, just run with it!

UPDATE: All is now well in headline land. Check out the story here. Thanks for the laugh, ABC-30!

Roosevelt High School Shot & Killed
. Really? Your going to let something like that go live? And twice, no less!? (shakes head) Love it. Not to make light of the situation, but you'd think ABC would double check these kind of things, right? (NYUP!) Footage at 5, 5:30, 6 & 11pm newscasts, for sure....awesome.

2008 Fresno Film Festival hits Tower this weekend

Starting this Friday and going through Sunday, the Tower Theater will host the Fresno Filmworks Fourth Annual Fresno Film Festival (Mmmmm...alliteration). What does that mean? It means you got something to do this weekend: GO OUT AND SUPPORT, SUN! Most of you won't and I have to admit, most of the stuff showing seems of little interest to me (why isn't there a focus on local filmmakers? Hotel Fresno is the only film that I know of being home grown) but I'll definitely be hitting up the festival. The point is we need to go out and support this kind of stuff. Sorry....feel free to bash my editorial rant down in the comments section. I'll for sure be there opening night to see Oscar nominated The Diving Bell And The Butterfly (check out the trailer for the film here) as I'm very happy to see a film like this opening the festival. Anyways, to see the full listing and information on the films showing, swing by the official site for the festival and I hope to see some of you out there.

Gotham Knight, rage against evil...

With writers Greg Rucka and Brian Azzarello writing two of six shorts and directors whose credits include work on Giant Robo, Tekkonkinkreet, and, uh... Sailor Moon, the upcoming Batman Gotham Knight anthology should be the goods. The trailer seems promising but the official site is kinda bare, longer vid w/ official peeps giving their take. Love the tag though, "prepare to rage against evil"....I'm the fucking Batman!

Zero Puncuation: Condemned 2 Review

Spielberg "handling" Ghost in the Shell

Sooo, as you may or may not have heard, Dreamworks has got its grubby little hands on the Ghost in the Shell movie privs'. According to Variety, they intend to make it a live action(yess!) 3-d(god nooo!) feature to be written by the Street Kings guy(what?). In the post they play up the fact that Avi Arad(mixed bag) is producing and that he is at the "forefront of comic-based material". Forgetting the whole manga don't equal comics thing, does "producing" the Spiderman series as well as three X-Men's and two Fantastic Fourses give you enough cred' to handle Masamune Shirow's sublime tale? Nay, says I. Verily, I say to thee, Nay! Anywho, they totally skip over the big question... Will Spielberg direct(says its one of his favs, natch')?? As awesome as he can be the potential is there for suck(Lost world anyone??). Check out the full story here from Variety.com.

The Onion: Popular Iron Man trailer to be adapted into full-length film

Wildly Popular 'Iron Man' Trailer To Be Adapted Into Full-Length Film
Gotta love those You Tube comments...

Really bored kids play Mario theme using wine bottles & R/C car....for real!

http://view.break.com/487616

Nyup! Not much to say here. I've heard the Mario theme played on all types of radical instruments but this one seems like the most complicated (convoluted?) one yet. Just check out the vid and ponder "How the fuck could any human being have time to pull something like this off?"

Incredible Hulk poster reavealed!

The good folks over at IGN.com have premiered the poster for the upcoming film. When you shave all the hair off my back, that's totally what it looks like....swear!! I'll hopefully eventually find a solution to getting that green color out.....

Unofficial Clone Wars trailer hits the webernetz

I was a big fan if the Genndy Tartakovsky animated series that came out before Episode 3 but without his involvement in this iteration, I'm not too sure. The animation looks true to those but something about extruding the 2-D look over to 3-D....yeah, not to sure if it's gonna work for me. The action looks cool, though. What did you think of the trailer?

NOOOoo! TFATF is now just FAF; next The Fast And The Furious film gets new title

Here at Dumb Drum, we love all things TFATF. And we love acronyms with a bunch of letters that spell nothing. So it pains me to report that the peeps over at IGN.com have revealed that the next installment in the awesome franchise will be titled simply Fast And Furious. Well, I guess is saves me some typing time..... As we mentioned before, Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez return to reprise their roles (if your interested in plot spoilers, check this post for some sad news for Letty fans) and seeks to close finish up the series. Well, Justin Lin is directing and he's been quoted as saying he has one more FAF film in him after this but lets wait and see what happens, okay? Look out for it and dumb ass kids burning out in their parents minivan in theater parking lots Summer of 2009.

Dem Trailers: Man on Fire Edition

Speed Racer
For the last couple of months, it seems like a new trailer has been released every other week for this film. Not a single one of those has gotten me the least excited about the film. This trailer changed all of that (amazing how a trailer can change the entire tone of a film) and it's now officially on my Cool-dar®. Check it out in HD over at Ainitcoolnews.com by clicking here and see if the Wachowski Brothers have their next big franchise in their hands.

Lakeview Terrace
Oh, Sam Jackson...what will you do next? Dude always has me on edge wondering what his next project is going to be, seeing that he does at least 6 or 10 films a year. I can never get enough of Mace Windu. But for every Unbreakable, we get 2 The Man's. So here he seems to be channeling his Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas role of a corrupt cop only this time he's messing with the neighbors. Will I see this in the theatre? Probably not, as Sam Jackson films are usually DVD fodder for me. But check out the trailer here and see for yourself.

American Teen
A modern day Breakfast Club, a pull-quote in the trailer claims (the film's movie poster even bites the classic). Never seen it, but it's in my stack of discs waiting for me to go through at home as you read this. The parallels in the documentary between rural Indiana & good ol' Fresno might strike home for many people here locally as it seems like everyone always wants to get out of this "stinky" town. And of course, I'm going too identify with the Geek character in the film. But the film looks like it can go either way, at this point. Will it be a "Laguna Beach in Indiana"? Perhaps. But that last shot in the trailer.....yeah, that makes me think otherwise. Check it out here to go back to your high school days, if only for a couple of minutes. And I'm calling that the basketball dude doesn't come through....

Zack & Miri get a date: Halloween 2008

Today over at the official Zack & Miri Make A Porno website, the release date for the film was revealed. Yup, so we will get some more Smith humor in our cinemas this year but until then, good thing we'll have SModcast to hold us over. Now I feel the need to dress up like a View Askew character for Halloween. Hmm....I wonder which one I look like the most?

Real life Iron Man suit....yeah, not really, but still pretty cool!

Popular Science recently did a wonderful retrospective on the exoskeleton and they touched on the XOS exoskeleton. In doing so, they wondered how close we are, technology wise, to building a real life suit of armor like Tony Stark's invention so they visited Marvel Comics and the people at XOS to find out. Check out the cool video here and suddenly see all your childhood Iron Man dreams come rushing back.... Also, check out an older video on the XOS embedded after the break!

Parenting at it's best; two men kissing more harmful than severed heads in video games

According to a poll taken by parent-oriented site What They Play, 27% of parents claimed that two men kissing was bad while 26% listed a graphically severed head as most harmful. Yup, I think Joystiq said it best in their headline: Welcome To America! Really, seeing dude kiss another dude is worse than seeing that same dude get his head cut off? Maybe if it was a gay guy getting his head cut off, then would that be okay? Fucken people.....at least it's good to see that use of the F-word finished last. Not that I use that word very often or anything. Anyways, I began to wonder, what would our readers think about this. I mean, I'm sure we have some parents among our readers but in polling everyone instead of just parents, what is worse in our video games? And hence, our new poll was born. Swing by over there to the right and let us know how you would answer to this poll. This story comes via Joystiq.com.

First pics from Frank Miller's The Spirit!

Well, our friends over at IGN.com posted the first pics from Frank Miller's solo directorial debut The Spirit and they feature my future ex-wife Scarlett Johansson & bad MF'er Sam Jackson. Yup, very uninteresting photos, I know. But we nerds love this stuff and new shit is new shit! Supposedly a trailer shouldn't be to far off into the future so as soon as we hear something, we'll post it here so keep an eye open!

Zelda, the way it should be

So, Twilight Princess was great and all, and I was one of the few who really liked Wind Wakers' cell--------shading, but this is the way a Zelda game should look. Just enought realism to make you pee your pants should you encounter the wrong enemy in a dark forest. Thank Katsuya Terada and some dudes Livejournal for the goods.

Uwe Boll responds to online petition to stop him from making movies; shows up swinging

Uwe Boll is amazing. I'll got out on a limb and say he's quite possibly the ballsiest director I've ever seen, pulling of such PR gems like setting up boxing matches between him and his critics, creating a 9/11 themed teaser trailer for one of his abortions and now this: calling out Hollywood heavy hitters like Michael Bay (who no doubt thinks this, too, is AWESOME!), George Clooney & Eli Roth. Last week, Boll commented during an interview on a petition that was started to get him to stop making movies. When the director of such awesomely horrible films such as House Of The Dead, Alone In The Dark & In The Name Of The King was asked how many signatures it would take for him to stop, he gave the magic number of one million. And the people raged to get the thing signed and is currently at 163,205 signatures. And with that surge, Boll posted the video up there to rally his fans to get a rival petition started. This guy..... Now normally, this would excite me to no end, to see an underdog call out the big dogs and see the ensuing fight. But Boll is different. He's not the underdog I usually root for but rather the asshole who you can't wait to see get his ass kicked. And Boll knows this and he's using it much to his advantage and I gotta give him props for that (I guess). But this guy will forever be but merely a footnote in cinema history and he'll never, no mater what kinda stunt he pulls next. At least he's good for a laugh, though. Swing by here if you feel you need to sign the anti-Boll petition. If your pro-Boll, by all means head over here to sign up. And lets keep our fingers crossed that Boll's next stunt lives up to the hype!

Sound the alarm! SModcast has returned

SModcast has provided me with hours and hours of free entertainment ever since they first appeared last year but earlier this year it's stars went on haitus when director Kevin Smith & producer Scott Mosier were busy on their upcoming film Zack & Miri Make A Porno starring Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks (did you miss the I'm Fucking Seth Rogen video they released eariler this year, too?) and in doing so created a hole in my soul as my Mondays ever since have been a little less bright for me. But after 10 or so weeks, they've come back and will hopefully keep the water flowing as they finish up with the film. Hands down, these guys put on one of the best podcasts on the internet. Encompassing all nerdom, they touch on movies, life, and search for answers to age old questions such as "Why the hell did God invent sharks?" Swing by quickstopentertainment.com and check out the newest podcast as well as catching up on the latest Kevin Smith info.

Who Watches The Watchmen? Now you can!

No, it isn't the trailer. Sorry if you got hyped up by that headline but sensational or not, we got you now! So as to not leave you totally unfulfilled, Superherohype.com has an exclusive video journal of the making of the upcoming film which you can check out here in HD or stream it here. The sets look amazing! I mean, coming from 300 where director Zack Snyder did almost no sets, to see the direction they're going with this really excites me. Not being a HUGE fan of the graphic novel (please send your hate mail to brodiemash@gmail.com), I'm keeping my hype meter down on this one for now but this video really drove it up a notch. I love to see practical sets rather than just rely on the magic of CGI completely. Also, I can't forget to mention the costume pictures that were released earlier this year. That stuff looked awesome and a good interpretation of the novel. Here's hoping that the film comes out a winner!

Dem Trailers: Swede Edition

Son Of Rambow
This trailer has been around for a while now but I haven't seen too many people pick up on it. It kinda seems like the "making films" films are coming at us more often than usual with releases like this one, Be Kind Rewind and Tropic Thunder. So what differentiates this one from the others? We have children making an action movie. If I had access to a camera that young, I mostly certainly would like to think I'd be doing the same thing. Some of the the reviews that have come out have been overwhelmingly positive so that along with my recent British comedy binge will most certainly get me in the theater. Check out the cool ass trailer here.

War, Inc.
Grosse Pointe Blank was a film that kinda really flew under the radar for most people. I really liked that shit. Dan Ankroyd, Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, Jeremy Piven....yeah, that film was pretty funny but I think it was marketed wrong (to be honest, the romantic/action/dark comedy isn't the easiest genre to market) and it failed to reach it true potential. This film seems to ditch the heavy romantic part and emphasize the dark comedy (the commercialization of war & the proliferation of private military corporations) all while seeming to be a spiritual sequel to that film. Check out the trailer over at IGN.com here and then go rent Grosse Pointe Blank to get a taste of what this film is cooking.

Zombie Strippers
Yup, that's the name of the film starring Jenna Jameson & Robert Englund. Trying to build of the success of last year's Grindhouse (check out the poster; it's a blatant rip-off) the only reason I put this film here is because of Mr. Englund. You know him right? Yes, it's good to see Freddy Krueger outside of the striped sweater and dumb hat. Yeah, the rest is really dumb. Check out the trailer here, if you must.
