McConaughey to play Captain America?
Cinema Blend (via Slashfilm.com) is reporting on a strong rumor concerning who might be playing Captain America in the 2012 Avengers movie that was mentioned yesterday. Matthew McConaughey seems to be a front runner for the role, according to the rumor. So what do you guys think? Can the surfer dude who doesn't own a shirt play the part? Check out the story here.

Dem Trailers: The Wackness edition
UPDATE: Slashfilm.com has posted 6 clips from the film. I'd rather wait to see the whole film (it's just that type of film for me) but if your adventurous, by all means go check them out right here. Thanks to Barrazie for the links
My day started off on a downer, but then I saw this new trailer for The Wackness. Lookit that pic up there. Any film portraying the ancient art of "Making the fucken Nintendo work" has to be a winner. We had posted the teaser not to long ago and now comes this longer, better trailer courtesy of Myspace Trailer Park, which you can download here in HD. Sit back and enjoy the ride, sirs! KEEN!

Marvel drops info on upcoming films, Thor & Avengers get the greenlight
Now that Marvel has taken the reigns of all its IP's via the Marvel Studios production company, they seem poised to release a steady flow of films to quench your superhero thirst. With the huge numbers Iron Man pulled this weekend, it should come to no surprise that they're already planning for a sequel. But furthermore, more info was released via Yahoo! Financial about other projects: Iron Man & Thor in 2010 followed by TWO Avengers themed films in 2011. Yeah, it's good time to love comics.

Obama vs. Grand Theft Auto
Joystiq posted this video in which Obama discusses the release of GTA and how it affects the children of today. As they mentioned in the post, it's interesting because I have never heard him talk about his stance on video game violence and this revelation only increased my respect for the man: parents need to monitor what the kids are playing. Yup, that simple. So you guys agree? And yeah, he just said "goo-gobs"....awesome!

One for the Roq'star; Fury cameo in Iron Man vid up
Roque may not have stayed past the end credits of Iron Man(when your 6ft GF says its time to pick up your yorkie and tuck her in, YOU DO THAT SHIT) but now he, and you 'aint gotta. Thank you io9, for super secret special saucing us with the magical 11 herbs and spices of Samuel Jackson, or Sam Jack as he will henceforth be dubbed, as Nick Fury. Yes it is a super crappy cell phone video but meh, whaddayagonnado? It is Sam as Nick(ultimate Nick Fury for continuity's sake).
While we speak of Iron Man, a word to the wise Roq, purhapsually a good friend, nay, hetero-lifemate would have been a better choice for the Iron Man sneak preview. I'm jes sayin.
I wouldn't have pestered you with questions about the tech or Marvel canon, I would have even bought the Mr. Pibb & Red Vines. Frankly there is nothing she could have offered that I can't match. NOTHING. Check the video here or above.

Iron Man 2 in 2010
Word from Sumner Redstone, executive chairman Viacom Inc. and CBS Corp. and Brad Grey, Ceo Paramount Pictures confirmed to Entertainment Tonight, plans for an Iron Man sequel which would be released in 2010 if the current Iron Man film lives up to their expectations.
Word is that while press screenings did not have that certain scene included after the credits, the official theatrical Iron Man film that was released last night IS expected to have the deleted scene included. So be sure and stick around once the credits start rolling!

IT'S ON!!! BOLL VS. BAY!
Or...maybe not. The moderator over at Bay's official site writes:
Just spoke to Mike, and it's false. This guy is really creepy, he's creeping me out.
BTW, Michael has never spoken to him and won't speak to him. Mike has a movie to deliver for June 2009, unlike this idiot.
Boll doesn't deserve press for his lame movie, so this is the last we talk about him in these forums. This press stunt will tank.
Boll is just digging himself deeper and deeper. What a tool. Check out the complete story here.

Dem Trailers: Really? Edition
Blindness
From Fernando Meirelles (the director of City Of God) comes this thriller having to do with a worldwide epidemic that causes blindness in most of it's population. Hmmm...yeah, that would scare the crap outta me if that ever actually happened. Shit, it shocks me every time how bad my vision is without my glasses. Anyways, check out the trailer here and then wonder how your life would change if you were to catch this disease.
Henry Poole Is Here
Good to see Adriana Barraza working again (it seems like it's been a while since I saw her rock it in Babel) and this one sees her balancing off of Luke Wilson in this little quirky film. The whole miracle Virign sighting has been done to death in sitcoms (It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia comes to mind as the most recent) I'm wondering how the concept could be stretched out into a full film. Check out the trailer here and see if you see God in this trailer.
Glass: A Portrait Of Philip In Twelve Parts
I had never heard of Philip Glass before I saw this trailer but count me in for this one. It reminds me of the wonderful Sketches Of Frank Ghery only music instead of architecture as the theme and I'm always up for a good documentary. Check out the trailer here for some music and see if it jives with you.

Officially official: Del Toro directing The Hobbit films
Yup, Del Toro will be directing both Hobbit films. Yeah, it's old news but I felt that we needed to close the chapter on this story and wait for the long silence between now and when the first info pops up on the films. Del Toro has stated that the whole process will take him around 5 years or so to do and is planning on moving to New Zealand to join Peter Jackson's team. 2011 or 2012 is the rough date they're giving for the release of the films. White Wizard extraordinaire Ian McKellan has confirmed in this interview with Empire Magazine that he will indeed be returning to the role of Gandalf in the films. Now we play the waiting game....Read the whole story over at Variety here.

Movie Review: Iron Man
Iron Man - 4 Stars (out of 5)
When I was a kid, Marvel released a book called The Iron Man Manual showcasing some of the technical aspects of building a flying suit or armor (Dave, if you can find this for me...) and I remember the impact it had on me: As soon as I was done going through it, I wanted to build my own suit of armor. Much to my disappointment, I have yet to reach that goal. But my desire to see a live action Iron Man has been fulfilled by director Jon Favreau, flanked by Robert Downey Jr. There were a couple of scene's in this film where I honestly felt like I was going to shed a tear (remember, I'm an sentimental bitch) as I saw what was transpiring before my eyes. To see Stark blasting foes with his repulsor blasts, shooting missiles out of his armor, punching through walls....pure bliss. The ending battle was only okay but the rest of the film made up for it and the S.H.I.E.L.D. setup was awesome. No War Machine armor, no Sam Jackson as Nick Fury, no Incredible Hulk crossover but overall, one bad ass film that will, if your a hardcore Iron Man fan, blast you like Unibeam to the face. SUPERIOR TECH!

PartyMarty also has his own blog, GrafightJunkie, in which he showcases his artwork among other wacky things he comes across when he's doing what he does best: internet cowboying. Nyup. So please join us as we give him a virtual handshake (I said SHAKE!) and wish him well on the journey through the wackiness that is this blog. NYUP!
