Yes, we have other people who occasionally blog here but people are busy and really don't have the time to dedicate to a crappy film blog. But yet today we welcome another member to our team: Bryan Harley! Yup, the local filmmaker will be blessing us with his gift of gab and enlightening us with his vast knowledge. Bryan will also become my official co-host on The DUmb for the foreseeable future. You can check out Bryan other works at his official site, AMF Productions. Lets all give him a hug when you see this guy in person. He loves hugs. LOVES THEM! Welcome, sir!

1st Fresno Swede Festival wrapup
About 20 mins. or so before after making a run to the downtown Smart And final to pick up some ice and random stuff, Bryan Harley brought a good point up as we headed back to the gallery: we were living the community screening at the end of the film Be Kind Rewind. It was true. The windows in the gallery were covered up by a patchwork of sheets, the projector made the images on the walls dance as all the other pieces on the gallery walls remained frozen and the most important part, the community, showed up. We didn't have a final number of exactly how many people showed up but the rough estimates that I received ranged anywhere from 30 to 50 people. Yup, Fresno came through and nothing could stop me from smiling this past Saturday. Ear to friggan ear. The entries were entertaining, people were laughing, conversations were being had...it was good times. I started to think that this is one of the few film festivals that occur here in town that actually made up mostly of local entries. I think that's what my original plan in creating this event was: to showcase what Fresnans can create. And I do have to say it was pretty tight! Hopefully we can continue this tradition with our 2nd Fresno Swede Festival. What's this I hear about a horror themed festival around Halloween?
A special thanks to everyone who attended and those of you that helped support the thing. Without everyones participation, there's no way it would of come out the way it did. If you guys have any comments, questions or suggestions for the next one, leave us some comments here or email us at thedumbdrum@gmail.com. And since I posted almost all the other entries here (at least the ones I had permission to post) here is Bryan Harley's instant classic, Robocop:

"Why No Arms" from AMF is up!
NYUP! Harley and his gang have posted their newest short which you can check out right up there. Yup, just click on that lil' "Play" triangle graphic in the middle of that pic up there and magically, the wonder box in front of your face will display the film. Soaking with Fresno (ahhh, the Speech Arts building), see if you can spot the different areas showcased in the film. Even the trademark Fresno fog makes an eerie appearance. Keep on supporting the AMF Productions crew and don't forget to visit AMFproductions.com for more of their stuff!
UPDATE: Check out the blooper reel from the shoot!

Superheroes Week comes to an end at AMF

Friend of "The Dumb" & Fresnan Bryan Harley has wrapped up his "Superheroes Week" over at AMF Productions which is merely a precursor to this week in which he plans to showcase his newest film. On top of all that, he's also added some more tutorials to that section of his site to help the community add muzzle flashes to their guns and also create a convincing hit & run. This guy sickens me with his talent. But nonetheless, head on over to his site and check out all the good stuff and help support the Fresno native and be sure to keep checking back this week to see what else Harley and his band of merry men have in store for us all!

Blur Teaser v2.0

Fast and furious. No not the production of Blur, rather these last couple of weeks. We're working to get a short shot (huh?) in about a week or two of total production (from concept to final) for the local Latino Film Festival held at The Fresno Art Museum next month. In the mean time, I had some free time this weekend and wanted to mess around with this trailer. Sounds horrible but just to get a look. Also, as you can tell, I've made it all black & white....and I think it looks nice! Most of the film will be shot at night so that will help as well. Maybe we should do the film like this? What do you guys think? Check it out here or here. Or just watch it here. Let us know what you think!

Local Boy Does Good....Again

So, Mr. Bryan Harley, your everywhere these days. If it's not designing award wining Web sites, making films or winning contests....it's appearing in the online edition of the NY Times. After giving the man crap for standing stoopid holding giant "I AM" cutouts, I have been pwned. He won some cash and now getting publicty for his mad video skills. Congrats, Mr. Harley. He's available for weddings and birthday parties as well (he loves doing those)....actually, if were to do those, he'd probably win some kind of award for those, too. Fucken guy.....this why I've tagged him to shoot Blur for me! Sir, if you can win awards for this, you are truly a god!
Click here to see the award winning entry for you lazy bastards!
