The Dumb Are Mostly Intrigued By The Drum

I just popped open the newest version of iTunes that was released today and haven't had a chance to really jump into it quite yet but from what I've heard from Mr. Steve Jobs at the event today, it all sounds pretty cool. On top of that, revised iPod Touch, iPod Nano & iPod Classic were shown off for people to fill up their loved ones stocking this winter. So other than that, not much else. The best thing to come outta the event was the announcement that iPhone 2.1 firmware software update will be out this Friday to fix all this stupid crashing and a host of other bugs from the latest update. Thank goodness. And did Steve Job look like he's stopped eating? Dude looked like a javelin up there! Head on over to Apple for more info on all the new stuff.

So this is supposed to be the Microsoft's answer to Apple, huh? Damn....honestly, I was hoping they were going to be awesome and maybe it's just starting off but I didn't find this too funny. Especially knowing that Seinfeld reportedly is getting around $10 million for the series of ads. I don't know, what do you guys think?

Yes Man
There's no way around it: Jim Carrey is getting up there, man. And his comedy routine is aging right with him. I long for the days of Dumb & Dumber and Ace Ventura and although those golden times might never be repeated, this trailer seems like it might be a step in the right direction. What do you guys think?

Flash Of Genius
Greg Kinnear I've been following since his days at Talk Soup and I'm glad to see he made it this far. Underdog stories like this one are always a treat and throw in some automobile industry espionage and I'm there (I thought Tucker: The Man And His Dream was an cool ass film). In here, Kinnear's character invents the windshield wiper and big, bad Ford comes in and jacks his idea. Check out the trailer here at Apple.

Sex Drive
A teen comedy that centers around obtaining sex. Yeah, nothing too original in this film but the donut mascot wearing a sombrero along with a few other laughs make this movie go from "Bah!" status to "Mmmm...perhaps" status very quickly. Check it out for yourself over here at Apple.

Well, since I had already posted a Dem Trailers this week, I decided to give this trailer it's own post simply on the fact on how dope it it. I know, I know...we post individual trailers all the time. Yeah, but those are the ones that us fanboys salivate over. This film isn't one of those. Instead, it's a documentary about a Frenchman named Philippe Petit who in 1974 illegally walked a tightrope between the twin towers. The film covers all the aspects of the daring exhibit. That's it, just go watch it and prepare to put the film on your "Must Watch" list. Check out the trailer here at Apple.

Red
Recently I was thinking about how far would I go if I knew someone had maliciously killed one of my dogs. How far would I go to get a person back if they intentionally ran over my dog, you know...would I try to retaliate? Well, this film kinda of touches on those feelings. I love the Cox and it's good to see Tom Sizemore back in front of the camera (and not in an X-rated film) too. In Search Of A Midnight Kiss
This one made me chuckle. Although the premise isn't entirely unique, the photography and dialogue real make this trailer shine. There's a lot of fancy pull quotes sprinkled through the trailer hailing this as the film that will "restore your faith in indie films" and whatnot but move all that noise aside and just take into the images....good stuff. Elegy
Based of the novel The Dying Animal from Pulitzer Prize winner Philip Roth, the film stars Sir Ben Kingsley, Penelope Cruz & Dennis Hopper. Yeah, that's a mighty impressive cast and the trailer looks cool. "Old age is not for sissies". That's a great quote! Check it out over here at Apple and let us know what you think.

So to day is one one of those days. Steve Jobs will be giving a keynote which means new product from Apple. A revised iPhone is expected (and this nerd will go batshit insane if I don't get it) as well as a slew of other announcements, which we'll post here as the news flows in. Not quick enough for you? Update 4: The iPhone 3G 8GB will sell for $199. $299 for the 16GB -- a white version of this size will be available too. Available July 11th in the US and 21 other countries worldwide.

I've never seen Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas. Actually, that's not right. I've seen like 2 minutes of the film and all I remember was a giant fish. I'm sure those of you who've seen it know what I'm talking about. But the life of the journalist Hunter S. Thompson has intrigued me since I really first heard of him back in 2001 and more so when he passed away in 2005 and this documentary looks to shine a light into the mind of the creator of Gonzo journalism. • Nissan was forced to spill the beans on the new 2009 GT-R when Motor Trend accidentally let their Dec. cover image slip out a week or so before the car official unveiling over a the Tokyo Auto Show. • Apple announced Oct. 26th as the release date for the latest OSX update, playfully named Leopard. Can't wait to give Steve jobs even more of my money.....asshole. Yes I caved in and bought the iPhone after the price drop last month and I love it, but Apple always finds to extract more & more money from me. Even though it pains me to spend, every product I've ever bought from them has been good to me (except that Apple II GS....I still want my money back for that bullshit-ass computer, Steve).

•Anyone else pick up Stephen Colbert's "I Am America (And So Can You!)?" Haven't had a chance to dive into it very much but the guy's been all over the boob tube last week. GMA, Larry King Live....and, of course, The Colbert Report where he was interviewed by....Stephen Colbert?!
