The Dumb Are Mostly Intrigued By The Drum

Seems like today is the day for all kinds of casting rumors....so Aintitcoolnews (via MTV) is reporting that Marvel is considering Will Smith for the role of Captain America. Before people start getting all "No way Captain America should be played by a black man!" lets step back and lets ponder this: Will Smith will not be playing Steve Rogers but rather Isaiah Bradley. Who is Bradley, you ask? Well you see, after Steve Rogers was given the Super Soldier Serum, scientists tried to recreate it and tested the serum on some black soldiers. Bradley is a product of that experiment and became Captain America for a short time. Now it's been reported in the past that a Captain America film will be a World War II story so that would gel with the idea of Isaiah Bradley existing in the universe (as Bradley got older, the affects of the serum caused him to become almost childlike) and it seems to have been neglected in mentioning this possibility in any of those previous stories (this proves my nerdiness, no?). Hmmm, seems very interesting so far. What do you guys think? If this theory doesn't fly, can Will Smith play Steve Rodgers?

I've never at down and watched Tron all the way through. Yeah, sorry but I haven't. I will, though....eventually. But I digress. Disney pulled off a top secret announcement this week at Comic Con by showing footage from the sequel the to 1982 film that destroyed peoples minds with it's special effects and gave video game players a much needed lift in the confidence column. • Jeff Bridges is back....and the bad guy?!
• The title is Tr2n (reminds me of 2 Fast 2 Furious...bah!)
• Rumors are that the film will be in 3-D
• That guy up there won't be in it

So what do you guys think? Can the modern world be as enthusiastic about this film as audiences were when it was originally released?

Aintitcoolnews has posted the first user submitted review of the upcoming blockbuster (make no mistake) The Dark Knight. Although it's listed as SPOILER FREE, I'd rather go fresh into the theater so I have not read it. And according to the site, the review is positive. Stan Winston, creator & designer of such huge Hollywood icons such as The Terminator, the dinos in Jurassic Park, The Predator and most recently the Iron Man suit, has passed away, per a report over at Aintitcoolnews. Man this sucks. Winston has been in the game for such a long time and whenever someone needed to translate and manifest an idea into the real world, Stan was the man, the master of practical. Who knows how suck ass all those movies he was involved in would of been without his expertise. Check out the full story here at Aintitcool. Sad day indeed.

Slashfilm has posted this excellent story in which they document the latest news in the upcoming Watchmen film from director Zack Snyder. The news that it turned out to be this 4-hour long superhero epic shouldn't be a surprise, but now we'll have to see what the studio will do with it. The fact that they will be releasing The Black Freighter as an animated feature on DVD around the same time the film drops in theaters is a positive note but any sane studio would balk at releasing such a high risk film with no major stars, no mainstream bankability and risk a high priced box office bomb. I certainly hope that both the studio and the fans put faith in the project and release the film and support it. I'm not a hardcore fan of the graphic novel, but to see how passionate the filmmaker is to get the story on the big screen inspires me and we all need to support that kind of drive. Aintitcoolnews has posted 2 early reviews for the upcoming summer blockbuster, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull and *surprise, surprise* they aren't very positive. Now, I haven't gone through and read the reviews thoroughly myself (I'm trying to stay spoiler-free here) but the headlines for the posts speak for themselves. Interested in seeing what these guys had to say? Head on over here for the first one and here for the second one but beware: there's bound to be spoilers in there. So will this affect my plans to go see it? Nope, I'll take it as a sign to lower my expectations and that'll probably let me enjoy the film even more....hopefully.
