The Dumb Are Mostly Intrigued By The Drum

Dang.....that's pretty awesome! I know Kevin Smith was initially set to direct this film (until he decided he was to much of a scary cat to handle something this big) but I have to say: Stephen Chow is a much better choice! Plus he's going to be Kato?! AWESOME! Love most of his films (CJ7 just wasn't my cup o' tea) and for him to come along and combine Chow with a star like Seth Rogen in the driver seat.....this is gonna either be real bad or real good, hopefully the latter. This month has sucked. So far, we've lost Tim Russert, Stan Winston & last night we lost George Carlin. Now I've watched approximately one of George's stand up routines when I was a kid but I really remember him from his appearances in Kevin Smith films. Although mostly limited to nothing more than cameos, Jersey Girl really provided his with a meaty role. And I really digged his performance, especially since it was such a distant role compared to his stand up. Kevin Smith has written up a wonderful piece over here at Newsweek and he does a wonderful job of summarizing his experience in working with the legend. One of these days we'll get to say those words on TV and make the man smile down from heaven. Fucken 'aye!

So a glimpse of the film is here....and it's very R-rated so bewarned as it is NSFW. Kevin Smith has said that not a single frame of this teaser will be in the final movie but rather it serves as an introduction to the film, as to not spoil too much for the audience. I could only imagine this is how casting for a porno goes like. Word is that a full trailer should be attached to the upcoming Judd Apatow comedy Pineapple Express. Until then, enjoy! Above, direct from Smith's Myspace Blog, is an exclusive pic from the new Zack and Miri film that's currently in the works with the first official test screening coming this Tuesday. Smith also claims to have a teaser ready to post up upon his arrival from his trip back east after getting his poker fix on at the Jersey "Stash" May 15th. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see what kind of madness you get when you mix Seth Rogen and the View Askewniverse. Today over at the official Zack & Miri Make A Porno website, the release date for the film was revealed. Yup, so we will get some more Smith humor in our cinemas this year but until then, good thing we'll have SModcast to hold us over. Now I feel the need to dress up like a View Askew character for Halloween. Hmm....I wonder which one I look like the most?

SModcast has provided me with hours and hours of free entertainment ever since they first appeared last year but earlier this year it's stars went on haitus when director Kevin Smith & producer Scott Mosier were busy on their upcoming film Zack & Miri Make A Porno starring Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks (did you miss the I'm Fucking Seth Rogen video they released eariler this year, too?) and in doing so created a hole in my soul as my Mondays ever since have been a little less bright for me. But after 10 or so weeks, they've come back and will hopefully keep the water flowing as they finish up with the film. Hands down, these guys put on one of the best podcasts on the internet. Encompassing all nerdom, they touch on movies, life, and search for answers to age old questions such as "Why the hell did God invent sharks?"
